While the country discusses changing the National Anthem, why not go
for a full re-brand of this green and pleasant land. I put my
hands up, and admit to aiding in this national institution, but why do
local councils allow major supermarket chains to destroy local
shopping centres, how many local markets must fall by the wayside
before something is done! Don't get me wrong I'm not for the
wholesale destruction of the Supermarket, but during war, shouldn't
innocent civilians be protected under some international law.
Take poor Long Eaton (Derbyshire), having established a large Asda
superstore, on the outskirts of town, Tesco, in a strategic manoeuvre,
builds one of Europe's largest superstores next door. Long Eaton
used to have a thriving shopping centre with a large well established
Market.
