The haggis is Scotland’s most famous food and consists of the heart,
lungs, and liver of a sheep or calf minced with suet and oatmeal, and
seasoned with salt, pepper, onions, etc. It is then boiled in the
stomach skin of the animal. Haggis hurling involved throwing a haggis
from a platform (usually a whisky barrel). The winner is the person who
throws it furthest and with most accuracy. It is a professional sport
and due to be presented as a demonstration sport at the 2004 Olympic
Games.
